Introduction
Every individual experiences abdominal pain from time to time. Abdominal pain is pain and discomfort that occurs in your abdomen. Other terms used to describe abdominal pain are stomachache, tummy ache.  

 

Types of abdominal pain
This pain can be of sudden onset (acute) or occurring over weeks and months (chronic). Also, the pain can be mild or severe, and it may be continuous or intermittent.

When to see a doctor

As listed, there are many reasons for abdominal pain. Some may not be serious, such as gas pains or a pulled muscle. Some may be so severe that you can't move without causing more pain or you can't sit still or find a comfortable position. Also, abdominal pain may be accompanied by other complaints like vomiting, diarrhea or chest pain. In such circumstances, one should see a doctor right away.
